2nd New Town Rivulet Clean-up
With the magnificent back drop of the mountain, volunteers Toby Rowallan and Peter Jones help with the clean up of the New Town Rivulet along Creek Road.
The clean up team managed to collect ½ a truckload of rubbish including golf sticks and a shopping trolley. Most of the rubbish was drink containers – bottles, milk cartons, plastics.
It coincided with the Environment Ministers’ trip to Tasmania where they discussed but could not agree on the introduction of container deposit legislation.
This clean up was a perfect reminder as to why legislation is important – to put a price on the rubbish many of which is discarded, wrecking our natural waterways.
Thanks to Mick Swanton from the New Town Rivulet Catchment Care Group and volunteers who helped on this beautiful winter’s day.
